Why we chose FOCUS
Heading into 2018, we'd built a successful agency placing remote talent. Like every growing business, we were starting to feel the cost of doing too many things at once. We chose FOCUS because the work that built the company was the work we did without interruption. Strategy needs uninterrupted time. The word reminded us that protecting time for the most important work isn't a luxury. It's the job.
What it meant for the team
- We blocked calendar time for strategy. Real blocks. Whole afternoons. No exceptions.
- We said no more often. To projects, meetings, and opportunities that didn't move the company forward.
- We built the muscle of choosing the one thing over the ten things. It's the muscle we still use today.
What it became by year's end
By the end of 2018, FOCUS had reshaped how we operated. The team was clearer on what mattered. FOCUS taught us that the obstacle isn't a lack of opportunity. The obstacle is the inability to choose.
