Who is Erin Jewell?

The conversation begins with Erin sharing how she got to this point in her life and career. She used to work in the life sciences sector before starting out her own company.

Erin admits that at the beginning, most of her professional journey was inspired by personal goals and ambitions. Which is why she is very thankful to work with people who understand her and support her vision for the company.

Erin Jewell on Company Culture

Erin gives the basic definition of culture, in that culture can be changed at any time.

“If you are not satisfied with the culture of the team, just know that you can change. Cultures are established by a bunch of opinions that have stayed in place for periods of time.” – Erin Jewell

Some companies are afraid to change their culture, because they think that it is what defines them, and that it is a foundation for the company. But if a culture that has been propagating is unwelcoming or downright toxic, should we not consider changing it for the better?

The Five Fundamentals

Erin talks about five fundamental things that in her experience, has never failed to work in fostering a positive workspace.

These 5 Fundamentals are:

  • Trust
  • Taking a Strength-based approach
  • Communication – Verbal, Non-verbal, and material
  • A sense of community
  • Holistic Listening

Erin shares that if you can nurture these 5 things, your employees will always have a great experience at work, and can focus on their work even better with no worries.

To hear more from Erin and a deeper explanation on these five fundamentals, continue listening to this episode.

About Jaime Jay

Meet Jaime Jay – a man who wears many hats, and wears them all admirably. He's a master connector, an entrepreneur extraordinaire, and a published author who knows how to get things done.

Before he found his way to the business world, Jaime served his country as a brave paratrooper in the U.S. Army. But that's just the beginning of his many accomplishments.

He's the founder of the renowned Bottleneck Distant Assistant Services firm, and his book "Quit Repeating Yourself" has become a must-read for entrepreneurs everywhere.

When he's not busy building his empire, you can find him on his beloved Harley Davidson, cruising through the countryside and taking in the invigorating effects of Uitwaaien – a Dutch practice that involves facing the wind to boost health and relieve stress.

He enjoys spending his free time outside building stuff with his wife, Nikita the dog and their two kittens (for now at least) Tommy and Tater.

He is ‘over-the-moon’ happily married to his wonderful wife Sara, his amazing daughter, Jessica, who is serving our country as a United States Army soldier. Jaime and Sara are the proud grand parents of two beautiful little girls.
