Who is Phil Singleton?

Phil is a man of many talents. A marketing and SEO expert, he has owned and operated a digital agency based in Kansas, and has been working on it since 2005.

He is also an author, and in 2016, he co-wrote SEO for Growth: The Ultimate Guide for Marketers, Web Designers & Entrepreneurs with another expert, John Jantsch. John is the owner of Duct Tape Marketing, and is an SEO expert himself. The book is now an Amazon bestseller.

SEO for Growth has been listed as a top marketing book by Mashable, Oracle, and Huffington Post.

Phil has also authored a highly popular WordPress SEO plugin which is globally used by over 60,000 websites.

He has a new startup venture called Podcast Bookers, which helps marketers and executives get booked. Aside from that, Phil has been growing his agency by acquiring others in the Midwest.

What is a 7-digit EBITDA agency and how do you grow one?

EBITDA is basically the cashflow for any type of agency. It means Earnings Before Interest Taxes Depreciation and Amortization. However, this isn’t profit. For some companies, they do not take into account other expenditures for the business. These expenditures are not included in EBITDA.

An EBITDA agency isn’t all about the profit. To be able to have a successful EBITDA agency, a company must be able to add value and charge people.

The thing is, even though you own a multi-million dollar company, if you’re not raking in profit that match your worth, the company is basically worth nothing.

“If you set up your company the right way and move away from the old school agency mentality and move into one where you figure out ways to leverage growth, that’s when you can really crush it,” Phil says about becoming an EBITDA agency.

Becoming an EBITDA Agency

Getting margins beyond your wildest dreams is the first step to becoming an EBITDA agency. Contrary to popular belief, it’s attainable and doable.

At first, if your company is just starting out, you’d have to accept that your profitability will drop. You’d have to use the money to build your company and your revenue will suffer because there are expenses that you’d have to shoulder.

But that won’t last. Expenses are something that’s constant and if you work towards the goal of not having your profits suffer whenever there’s an expense, then you’re on your way to becoming an EBITDA agency.
