A Conversation with Bottleneck Distant Assistants Founder/CEO, Jaime Jay | Live with Bottleneck

On this special episode of Live with Bottleneck, guest host Gordon McDougall interviews Jaime Jay, founder and CEO of Bottleneck Distant Assistants. They talk about Jaime’s journey to founding the company, and how it is doing now, and how he got to this point in his career.

Jaime Jay is a lot of things. He is the founder, CEO, and managing director of Bottleneck Distant Assistants, yet he proclaims that he is unemployable. He doesn’t believe in the work-life balance, instead he believes in life balance.

If you’re interested to learn about Jaime Jay’s journey in the corporate and freelancing world, stay tuned to this episode.

Who is Jaime Jay?

Jaime founded Bottleneck Distant Assistants in 2016. It is an outsourcing agency that helps businesses cultivate their workforce. Jaime carefully designed a systematic approach to growth, and by identifying and hiring the right people, businesses grow to success.

He used to be a veteran US Army paratrooper, and he received the Army Achievement Medal for Meritorious Service. Jaime, however, did not see himself in the military for long, and he decided to enter the corporate world.

He had a 12-year career in corporate America, with an advanced education in Business Administration and Management at the Florida Institute of Technology.

Now, aside from managing Bottleneck Distant Assistants, he plays hockey and rides his Harley-Davidson. He also goes camping and boating, playing the guitar, shooting guns, and traveling. Most of all, he spends time with his wife, Sara, and their dog, Nikita.

How Jaime Jay Started Bottleneck Distant Assistants

Jaime interviewed his first personal assistant Reina over three years ago, but he went with someone else. A week later, he came groveling back to Reina after realizing his mistake, and now, she is his director of operations at Bottleneck.

Jaime learned from that first mistake, hiring the wrong person, and turned it into a learning point. He then started hiring all the right people, leading to this point in time where Bottleneck Distant Assistants now has all the right people.

He says that he still makes mistakes with hiring people, but he has now learned to delegate more effectively. As the CEO and managing director, he has also learned to make decisions quicker. Bottleneck is basically a staffing agency, and the way Jaime sees it, things have worked out pretty well.

Jaime Jay’s Keys To Building A Successful Business

“You want something done really fast, you get a pulse to take care of some stuff for you, is the worst thing you can do. You’re throwing money away.” – Jaime Jay

It’s not just hiring for the sake of hiring, Jaime iterates. As someone who owns a business, you owe it to your company to find that diamond in the rough and polish it to near perfection. You would need that diamond to be in line with your vision and mission. It takes time to put together a team of diamonds, and you have to be patient.

About Jaime Jay

Meet Jaime Jay – a man who wears many hats, and wears them all admirably. He’s a master connector, an entrepreneur extraordinaire, and a published author who knows how to get things done.

Before he found his way to the business world, Jaime served his country as a brave paratrooper in the U.S. Army. But that’s just the beginning of his many accomplishments.

He’s the founder of the renowned Bottleneck Distant Assistant Services firm, and his book “Quit Repeating Yourself” has become a must-read for entrepreneurs everywhere.

When he’s not busy building his empire, you can find him on his beloved Harley Davidson, cruising through the countryside and taking in the invigorating effects of Uitwaaien – a Dutch practice that involves facing the wind to boost health and relieve stress. He enjoys spending his free time outside building stuff with his wife, Nikita the dog and their two kittens (for now at least) Tommy and Tater. He is ‘over-the-moon’ happily married to his wonderful wife Sara, his amazing daughter, Jessica, who is serving our country as a United States Army soldier. Jaime and Sara are the proud grand parents of two beautiful little girls.
