Jodi Krangle is a voiceover actor and a singer. She has a lot of experience and knowledge to share with us all about sound. Having a good quality of audio makes a huge impact towards a business success. So today, she’s here to talk about the importance of having a crystal clear sound to represent your business and how to communicate effectively to your audience.
Making a Demo
Jodi says that voiceover is not just talking on a microphone because it also requires skill in acting. She says that making a demo without any coaching can give you a false sense of security. Additionally, she shares advice from her coach for those who are struggling to get hired in a voiceover job:
“The reason they’re hiring you is because you’re you, not because you’re anyone else. So, if you’re trying to pretend like you are who you hear on the television, or you know if you’re putting on anything, that’s not why they’re hiring you. They’re hiring you to be you so, it’s your personality speaking this script as if you’re saying this to someone.” – Jodi Krangle
Connecting with Your Audience
Jodi says that having a passion for what you are doing is important because it will help you in doing a good job. She shares a tip about having a decent microphone to treat your environment so that you will not have barriers with your audience. She also advises that interviewing is a skill that you need to learn if your podcast will focus on interviewing other people.
“You want to make it sound good because you don’t want to have any impediment between you and your audience, being able to enjoy what you’re putting out there. So if you have passion for what you’re doing, make sure it sounds good because then you’re not going to turn anyone off.” – Jodi Krangle
Importance of Good Audio
Jodi states that your audio will reflect your business. She says that people might not trust your business if you can’t connect to people properly. She leaves her last advice to those who are struggling at finding the right niche for them:
“If you focus on what your strengths are rather than being an everything to everyone type of voice talent, you’re likely to find your niche pretty quickly. People will appreciate that you know who you are.” – Jodi Krangle
