AWIR with Jaime & Sara: Appreciating Every Day
Waking up with a new day to start is a always a blessing. Today, Bottleneck Distant Assistants CEO Jaime Jay and COO Sara Knox talk about being thankful and appreciating what you have every day. They talk about their accomplishments from the past week and what challenges they have faced before achieving success. They also share the importance of showing respect by asking questions when conversing with another.
Being Grateful for Everything
Jaime asks Sara what does appreciating every day means to her. Sara says that she appreciates getting up with all her limbs and brain functioning well and that she is thankful that she has a home to live with because some people don’t. Jaime then says that he is grateful for having Sara.
“I’m just grateful for everything that has been given to me, and that I have a roof over my head, many people don’t have a roof over their head, and they are worried about having a roof over their head.” – Sara Knox
Empowering by Asking Questions
Jaime says that you should encourage someone when they give ideas because it is empowering. Sara says that the more questions you ask, the more information you get. Additionally, Jaime states that asking insightful questions is one way of showing respect to whoever you’re talking with.
“When someone asks you a question like in an interview, you listen intently and with purpose. Then, you repeat the question back to them so you make sure you know what they’re asking and then answer the question. Then after you answer the question, ask them a question. You know, you want to feel connected that you’re listening intently and that you’re there in the conversation.” – Sara Knox
Importance of Preparing
Jaime shares his accomplishments from the past week. He says that his week was very productive because he didn’t waste any of his time. He thanks Sara for pushing him to do his tasks because he needed to be prepared in order to make the meetings successful.
“Jaime’s week, I compare it to studying for a test. So you walk out of a test and you’re like ‘I nailed it’ or you’re like ‘Oh God I don’t know, I think I did terrible’. Why do you think you nailed it? Because you prepared and you took the time to prepare.” – Sara Knox
