How to Be a Credible Thought Leader | Mitchell Levy
In this episode of Live With Bottleneck, we have TEDx speaker and international bestselling author Mitchell Levy and he shares his experience and knowledge on you can become a credible thought leader. Mitchell also discusses the components of credibility and how to embody them. We hope that this episode will help you become a credible leader in your own businesses and organizations.
Credibility Defined
Mitchell reveals that the dictionary definition of the word ‘credibility’ is only one-third accurate. He says that credibility is broader than just a demonstration of trust. Mitchell elaborates that for him, credibility is the demonstration of know, like, and trust.
“Another manifestation of credibility is the fact that when you interact with somebody and you really understand who they are and know them — the commitment, the integrity, the intent. You like them. It’s been fun, interactive, and that you trust them. You know that they’ve been vulnerable, have integrity and authenticity.” – Mitchell Levy
Demonstration is Important
Mitchell says that the most important word in the definition of credibility is demonstration. He says that one cannot be seen as credible when he does something different from what he says. Mitchell adds that a valuable factor in credibility of a person is who that person is.
Further in the conversation, he says that it is important that one is passionate about what they are doing to illustrate credibility.
“What’s important is that you have to demonstrate the like and trust. You have to demonstrate credibility so that you get the word-of-mouth marketing.” Mitchell Levy
Know What Others Think of You
Mitchell discusses that the use of third-party testimonials is important in the demonstration of credibility. It is a third-party validation on one’s credibility. However, Mitchell says that they should speak from their hearts to know what’s important for them.
“When I ask somebody for the testimonial, I say speak from your heart. There’s a difference if they’re trying to say what they think I want to hear versus when they say what’s important to them. The smile on their face, the authenticity, the glow that comes from that conversation when they’re talking from their heart is so authentic.” Mitchell Levy

Meet Jaime Jay – a man who wears many hats, and wears them all admirably. He’s a master connector, an entrepreneur extraordinaire, and a published author who knows how to get things done.
Before he found his way to the business world, Jaime served his country as a brave paratrooper in the U.S. Army. But that’s just the beginning of his many accomplishments.
He’s the founder of the renowned Bottleneck Distant Assistant Services firm, and his book “Quit Repeating Yourself” has become a must-read for entrepreneurs everywhere.
When he’s not busy building his empire, you can find him on his beloved Harley Davidson, cruising through the countryside and taking in the invigorating effects of Uitwaaien – a Dutch practice that involves facing the wind to boost health and relieve stress. He enjoys spending his free time outside building stuff with his wife, Nikita the dog and their two kittens (for now at least) Tommy and Tater. He is ‘over-the-moon’ happily married to his wonderful wife Sara, his amazing daughter, Jessica, who is serving our country as a United States Army soldier.
