How to Hire a Virtual Assistant with Jaime Jay and Gordon McDougall
On this special episode of Live with Bottleneck, Gordon McDougall talks with Jaime Jay about how to hire a virtual assistant and the value they bring to a workforce. It’s a great look at the best ways to go about hiring the right virtual assistant that will match the needs of a business.
They dissect the terms ‘virtual assistant’ and ‘digital assistant’ as well since contrary to popular belief they are not the same. Additionally, they take a closer look at how virtual assistants directly contribute to process improvement in the workplace.
Gordon McDougall is part of Bottleneck Distant Assistants as its EVP, but he has his own company, Tezi Advisory Inc. He is its founder and CEO, and he does financial advisory, negotiation, and leadership development. Gordon is also an expert in public speaking and team building.
Who is Gordon McDougall?
At present, Gordon McDougall is the Executive Vice President of Bottleneck. He’s an expert strategist that specializes in helping fast-growing businesses. Back in the 1980s, he was a stockbroker, and he went on to become a co-founder of multiple businesses.
His expertise spans three decades when it comes to raising capital, strategic partnerships for high growth businesses and being a business strategist.
The Virtual Assistant In A Nutshell
From the term itself, this is essentially a person who works remotely-often from their own home-that often does administrative tasks. They tend to act like an administrative assistant or secretary that’s simply not working on-site.
Tasks that tend to fall under their area of responsibility include dealing with bills, handling and sorting physical mail alongside e-mail, taking calls, and more. That said, there are also specific kinds of virtual assistants out there. These include the kinds who have the expertise for bookkeeping and even financial data of clients or customers.
Hiring A Virtual Assistant Is Beneficial
A key point for anyone on the fence about getting a virtual assistant is that it’s an investment. Time is precious as it is, and the hiring process can involve seeking the right candidates, doing interviews and more.
“There’s a lot of confusion about the hiring process, hiring in general, and all you need to do is write down a couple of questions. Your experience is valuable during this process,” Gordon says.
However, all of that time will pay off in the long run with the right virtual assistant in place. The right virtual assistant will streamline things for any business owner and help decrease stress since things are getting done well. It’s particularly helpful to outsource the hiring process to a trusted distant assistant.

About Jaime Jay
Meet Jaime Jay – a man who wears many hats, and wears them all admirably. He’s a master connector, an entrepreneur extraordinaire, and a published author who knows how to get things done.
Before he found his way to the business world, Jaime served his country as a brave paratrooper in the U.S. Army. But that’s just the beginning of his many accomplishments.
He’s the founder of the renowned Bottleneck Distant Assistant Services firm, and his book “Quit Repeating Yourself” has become a must-read for entrepreneurs everywhere.
When he’s not busy building his empire, you can find him on his beloved Harley Davidson, cruising through the countryside and taking in the invigorating effects of Uitwaaien – a Dutch practice that involves facing the wind to boost health and relieve stress. He enjoys spending his free time outside building stuff with his wife, Nikita the dog and their two kittens (for now at least) Tommy and Tater. He is ‘over-the-moon’ happily married to his wonderful wife Sara, his amazing daughter, Jessica, who is serving our country as a United States Army soldier. Jaime and Sara are the proud grand parents of two beautiful little girls.
