Who is Scott Novis?

Scott is a great believer of fostering spaces where everyone can have a sense of belonging.

“What we do is to create feelings of belonging in groups that we work with. It’s not enough to just belong, you have to do things together to give your belonging meaning.” – Scott Novis

This has led to him founding GameTruck, a nationwide franchise company that provides social gaming spaces for children at parties and special events.

Later on, he also founded Bravous, a company that is helping businesses facilitate highly dynamic live and virtual game events for their employees.

Strengthening Friendships and Bonds

With his 20 years of experience in the gaming industry, Scott Novis knows a lot about what interactive technology can do. As video games have become something of a norm in terms of bonding and communicating with friends, Scott and his company uses this to create the same camaraderie in their client’s business.

“What we do is take the technology to reinforce, build, and strengthen friendships with the people that we spend so much time with.” – Scott Novis

Scott and his team do this by having several cooperative games that people can play either on site and remotely, so that everyone can join in and participate.

Using Technology to Reconnect

Technologies such as smart phones have had a bad reputation of steering people away from proper conversations.

“Sherry Turkle has a new book out called Reclaiming Conversation, which tells that we are mediated by technology. Everybody’s got a phone in their hands and we don’t talk to each other anymore. So how can we restart conversations especially in the newer generations.

Games are how they interact with the world. Everything they do is through a screen or device. So how do we get them on board and get people talking? That’s what our programs are designed to do.” – Scott Novis

Bio

Scott Novis is the founder of Bravous, a company that is helping businesses increase retention by facilitating highly dynamic live and virtual video game events for their employees. Scott comes from an eclectic background of professional influences; he has two engineering degrees, spent decades as a video game executive, and worked as a Disney executive before leaving to found GameTruck, a nationwide franchise company that provides social gaming spaces for children at parties and special events.

Today, Scott focuses on helping break down the barriers of isolation using video games by using them as a tool for connection. Whether a group of college students trying to make friends, or a team of remote workers who have been isolated by their new working conditions, Scott believes video games can help. Technology does not have to be isolating. Managed effectively, it can be a platform for transformation, change, and yes, even friendship. Along with the social video game events, Bravous aims to take the boredom out of traditional training with their revolutionary take on a team communication workshop, Culture Kitchen.

He enjoys spending his free time outside building stuff with his wife, Nikita the dog and their two kittens (for now at least) Tommy and Tater.

He is ‘over-the-moon’ happily married to his wonderful wife Sara, his amazing daughter, Jessica, who is serving our country as a United States Army soldier. Jaime and Sara are the proud grand parents of two beautiful little girls.
