Paul also founded Team Vetcor, which allows veterans and their families to franchise VetCor and create a business ownership opportunity for themselves. He served 23 years on active duty, and he is also a Certified Franchise Executive and a licensed Professional Engineer.

Whether you’re a veteran or not, you can continue listening to this episode so you can pick up a few tips on how to become an entrepreneur and business owner like Paul Huszar.

Who is Paul Huszar?

Paul Huszar is a Certified Franchise Executive and licensed Professional Engineer. He earned his degree in Civil Engineering from West Point, and gathered graduate certificates in Administration and Management, Global Trade, Transportation and Logistics, and an M.S.C.E. from the University of Washington. Paul also served as the Dean of the Army Engineer School, and served 23 years in the army, including four tours in Iraq. He is now an entrepreneur and businessman.

Paul helps veterans and people in general and open them up to more opportunities after the fact of serving in the military or coming from some other profession that tied them to a different world. He allows fellow veterans to take a look at other opportunities that they can take on. He also talks about the challenges that they may face while pursuing these opportunities.

Creating Business Opportunities for Veterans

After the fact of serving in the army, most veterans are dismissed honorably or retired and live on their military pension. However, there is no opportunity for growth since their pension is just enough to keep them and their family alive. It’s not enough to start a business, and it’s hard to become an enterprising entrepreneur on such a small amount. Paul thought hard about this fact and created VetCor for fellow veterans to be employed again after their service, or have them own a business themselves.

Paul doesn’t want his fellow veterans to think that they are basically useless after their service, and that should not define the rest of their lives after they’ve left the army. VetCor creates several career paths for veterans so that they would have something to do with their time after their life in the army.

How To Become An Entrepreneur, According To Paul Huszar

Franchising is a great opportunity to put veterans’ skills to use. Our host Jamie mentioned that in franchising, one has to be tight when it comes to systems, processes, and workflows, and those are learned in the military. Paul calls it recipes of success, because he learned in the army how to establish order and have a pretty solid decision-making process.

Applying all these skills and more to franchising and owning a business can help veterans and regular people become an entrepreneur in their own right, and you don’t honestly have to have been a veteran to garner these skills and become a businessperson.

To know more about the value of becoming a veteran and how you can learn and apply these skills in your business venture, continue watching this episode.

About Jaime Jay

Meet Jaime Jay – a man who wears many hats, and wears them all admirably. He's a master connector, an entrepreneur extraordinaire, and a published author who knows how to get things done.

Before he found his way to the business world, Jaime served his country as a brave paratrooper in the U.S. Army. But that's just the beginning of his many accomplishments.

He's the founder of the renowned Bottleneck Distant Assistant Services firm, and his book "Quit Repeating Yourself" has become a must-read for entrepreneurs everywhere.

When he's not busy building his empire, you can find him on his beloved Harley Davidson, cruising through the countryside and taking in the invigorating effects of Uitwaaien – a Dutch practice that involves facing the wind to boost health and relieve stress.

He enjoys spending his free time outside building stuff with his wife, Nikita the dog and their two kittens (for now at least) Tommy and Tater.

He is ‘over-the-moon’ happily married to his wonderful wife Sara, his amazing daughter, Jessica, who is serving our country as a United States Army soldier. Jaime and Sara are the proud grand parents of two beautiful little girls.
