What a Typical Work Week Look Like For Us

Typical Work Week

Sara shares that they focus on individual tasks during Mondays, so they don’t schedule many meetings. For the rest of the weekdays, Jaime has back to back meetings while Sara works in the background. Additionally, Sara shares how she helps Jaime when he’s super busy:

“He’s concentrating so much, and I can hear his energy. It’s infectious. I can hear him laughing and bantering back and forth with whomever he’s talking to. I just love to hear that so, I like to take care of him out there and do what I can to make it make his day easier for him.” – Sara Knox

Workspace Set Up

In line with what a typical work week looks like for Sara and Jaime, they share their workspace set up and how they get to work on it. Jaime says that Sara’s workspace looks like a jungle because it’s filled with plants with just a little wall. Additionally, Sara shares that Jaime found a new social media platform to send messages called Clubhouse: Drop-in Audio Chat:

“If you guys have an apple device and you’re not on Cubhouse, let me know. I think I have a couple of invites left. It’s audio-based. People can talk, make statements, ask questions, and anything like that.” – Jaime Jay

Reaching Out for Teammates

Sara says that many people are having a hard time to admit vulnerability. One of the challenges they had was the difficulty of communicating with distant assistants that are a little off. Also, she says that it’s okay to be a little off because everyone is not perfect and we’ve all got flaws but there should always be communication.

“We don’t want to pry personally if there’s a personal challenge or something like that. But the second we find out that something’s a little bit off, it’s really important for us to address the issue.” – Jaime Jay

Jaime and Sara run a business that helps business owners alleviate the mundane details of their daily lives that free them up to do their best work. The company is called Bottleneck Virtual Assistants. Jaime and Sara are a married couple who enjoys spending time together playing hockey, boating, spending time with family and friends, and traveling. They also love their dog, Nikita. 

Sara and Jaime went out on their back porch on this beautiful sunny day in Springfield, MO. From their back deck, they talk about all the workflows they are putting in place, building a great culture within their organization from a distant relationship – or remote-based environment. They discuss the challenges, but they also enjoy the successes.
