What We Do to Work From Anywhere in the World – A Week in Review
LiveThe year 2020 has been difficult for many because of the pandemic. Still, it was a blessing in disguise to some, especially for those who can work remotely. To take a break and inhale the fresh air, Bottleneck Distant Assistants CEO Jaime Jay and COO Sara Knox had the chance to get away from stress by traveling and working at the same time. So, in today’s episode, they talk about their amazing trip and how they managed to work remotely.
The Challenges of Working Remotely
Sara and Jaime share their fun workation experience at Cabo San Lucas. However, they encountered some hardships in working remotely such as internet challenges and security protocol issues. Jaime said he had to set up a VPN connection so that they can work remotely.
“I had some really big internet challenges when we were in a foreign country because my computer has been in the US in a certain area, and there are all these security protocols. I was having a really hard time getting anything done just getting onto my computer. It took me two days to just get on my computer.” – Sara Knox
Balancing and Managing the Time
Jaime says that he’s not sure about encouraging everyone to make sure they do their work while doing something else. Sara says that she would cut her days into half days and get everything done in the morning before doing anything else. They said it was really hard to work while they were in paradise.
“I think it’s awesome that I can work anywhere and that I can have an internet connection. But the worst part about it is I can work anywhere because I have an internet connection, so I have to be able to balance that correctly.” – Jaime Jay
New Year, New Hope
Before ending the show, Jaime advises being kind to one another. He said there are a lot of challenges this 2020, but next year is an opportunity for us to look at the positives. Additionally, he encourages everyone to reach out to someone you haven’t talked to in a while to express love and care.
“If you’re not a Christmas person or not religious, you know, enjoy the days off and enjoy the holidays that other people celebrate as a religious holiday. Take advantage of the time.” – Sara Knox
