151 Jim Thomson NHL Alumni Dedicates His Life to Saving Lives
Jim Thomson
Jim Thomson is a 10 year veteran of the NHL and longtime friend of Jaime Jay. He has overcome addiction at 14 and again after his career in the NHL. He works with at-risk youth and families to overcome the tragedy of addiction.
“Hockey is life, and life is good.” – Jim Thomson
Career and Life After Hockey
Jim was born in Alberta, Canada. The Washington Capitals drafted him in 1984. After his career on the ice, he got seriously addicted to drugs and alcohol.
“You are one of the good guys.” – Jim Thomson describing Jaime Jay
His life went downhill for quite some time. Now, Jim has finally rebuilt his life. He currently owns the junior hockey team Aurora Tigers and the hockey company Jim Thomson’s Dreams.
Fighting on the Ice
Jim’s career in the NHL ended on a good pace. But according to him, he would have focused more on the game than on fighting in it.
He used to be an enforcer for his team. Back then, he would take drugs to fight the numbness when playing his role. However, he hated fighting.
“If you’re going to to do something stupid and hurt someone, you’re going to get caught and you’re going to get suspended.” – Jim Thomson on the role of fighting in the NHL
Now, the cameras can easily catch players from any angle. If you fight, it will cost you money and suspension.
Unforgettable Experiences
Jim had many unforgettable experiences in the NHL. He remembers the time he was traded from New Hartford to New Jersey.
They lost a game 7-1. On the same day, Buster Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson. No day seems to prove more upsetting than that—Jim was not only a hockey player but also a boxing fan.

About Jaime Jay
Meet Jaime Jay – a man who wears many hats, and wears them all admirably. He's a master connector, an entrepreneur extraordinaire, and a published author who knows how to get things done.
Before he found his way to the business world, Jaime served his country as a brave paratrooper in the U.S. Army. But that's just the beginning of his many accomplishments.
He's the founder of the renowned Bottleneck Distant Assistant Services firm, and his book "Quit Repeating Yourself" has become a must-read for entrepreneurs everywhere.
When he's not busy building his empire, you can find him on his beloved Harley Davidson, cruising through the countryside and taking in the invigorating effects of Uitwaaien – a Dutch practice that involves facing the wind to boost health and relieve stress.
He enjoys spending his free time outside building stuff with his wife, Nikita the dog and their two kittens (for now at least) Tommy and Tater.
He is ‘over-the-moon’ happily married to his wonderful wife Sara, his amazing daughter, Jessica, who is serving our country as a United States Army soldier. Jaime and Sara are the proud grand parents of two beautiful little girls.
